Province: Restricted to the Bovey Basin in Devon.
Geologic Age: Eocene Epoch-Oligocene Epoch
Other: Clay and siliciclastic argillaceous rock with subsidiary sand, sandstone and silt and trace lignite. Stratified bedrock. Occurs onshore. Deposited during the Eocene Epoch - to - Oligocene Epoch (Palaeogene Period) (56-23.03 Ma BP). To 1200m (Curry et al., 1978). Underlain along its eastern outcrop and south of Newton Abbot by the Aller Gravel and the Upper Greensand. Elsewhere unconformable upon, or faulted against, Devonian, Carboniferous or Permian Rocks. the original top of the Formation is not preserved, and its eroded top now forms the land surface, underlying the modern soil.
