Province: From southwest of Wath upon Dearne around the hamlet of Abdy [SK4430 9880], South Yorkshire, to Staincross Common, [SE3300 1100] Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
Geologic Age: Bashkirian Age-Moscovian Age
Other: Sandstone. Stratified bedrock. Occurs onshore. Deposited during the Duckmantian Substage (Carboniferous Period) (318-315.2 Ma BP). A thinly bedded, fine-grained, ripple cross-laminated, yellowish brown sandstone. 0 to 53m Sharp upward change in a conformable succession from predominantly grey mudstone to sandstone - base of first sandstone above the Abdy or Winter Coal. Sharp upward change in a conformable succession from sandstone to predominantly mudstone - top of last sandstone bed below the Two-Foot Coal and overlying Maltby (Two-Foot) Marine Band.
