Province: Mapped near the western and southwestern margins of Fenland in Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire. Probably extensive beneath younger deposits throughout Fenland except, perhaps, in the east. Passes laterally into alluvial deposits (First Terrace Deposits).
Geologic Age: Tarantian Age
Other: Gravel with subsidiary sand. Stratified superficial deposits. Occurs onshore. Formed during the Devensian Stage (Quaternary Period) (.116-.0118 Ma BP). Sands and gravels, some with marine shells, including clayey, sandy gravels and pebbly sands. 0 - c.5m Rests unconformably on bedrock or older Quaternary deposits. Passes laterally into First Terrace Deposits (eg. of Nene and Welland rivers). Contact with pebbly, silty, sandy clays and clayey sands of the Crowland Bed (Booth, 1982). In the absence of the Crowland Bed, may not be separable from the lowest part of the Barroway Drove Beds.
